Romans 1:17

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Statement of Faith

FBC Osawatomie is a Bible-based church. We believe that the Bible is God's Word revealed to all of mankind. Being uniquely God-breathed, it is inerrant and infallible and is worthy of a lifetime of devoted study and application. The Bible is the final authority on all matters on which it bears.

We believe that the one and only God is eternal and exists as a divine relationship of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that God created human beings to exist in complete harmony with Him, living a life of continuous fellowship with Him. But humanity defied God's plan by willfully stepping away from His fellowship choosing, instead, to go its own way. As a result, humanity fell from God’s grace and was alienated from God. This alienation is called "sin." Sin ushered disease, sickness, pain, and death into humanity.

We believe that a loving Father-God ordained a way for us to end this alienation and be rescued from our sin and separation through salvation. Salvation is accomplished by willfully turning away from sin and the path of separation from God by turning back towards fellowship with God. This turning is called repentance.

Only by personally receiving God’s grace through faith in repentance can we be saved. This saving grace cannot be won by any kind of human effort. It can only be received in faith as a gift from God.

We believe that God chose to walk among humanity in the person of Jesus Christ to fulfill God's divine purpose and teach us the path to our salvation. We believe that Jesus showed us a way of living that is within reach to all but that can only be accessed by faith in repentance.

Being fully God, yet fully human, Jesus lived a sinless life and voluntarily chose to pay the price for all humanity's sin by submitting to torture, humiliation, and finally death on the cross. We believe that Jesus conquered death by rising bodily from the grave and ascending into Heaven. In so doing, Jesus Christ cleared the path and fulfilled salvation for anyone who receives grace by trusting in Him alone. Son-Jesus now serves as our sole mediator with Father-God.

We believe that God's Holy Spirit moves freely among us leading all who will repent to the truth of God. Spirit-God teaches and advises us. He empowers us to accomplish God's Will for our lives and for serving the needs of others. He gifts us with the wisdom, power, and insight to share the good news of God's plan with the world. And that is what we must do. As His children, our job is to glorify God.

We believe that at some point in the future Son-Jesus — who reigns over all Heaven and earth — will return to complete human history and bring Father-God's plan to perfection.

We believe that when Son-Jesus returns to humanity and completes history, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and a judgmental reckoning. This reckoning will finally divide those who have turned back to God's path and accepted His gift of grace through Jesus from those who have not.

Those who have not been saved by the grace of God will be completely and eternally separated from God and His grace in a place we call hell.

Those who have been saved by the grace of God will exist in eternal harmony and fellowship with God in the New Heavens and the New Earth.
