Lessons Learned

1. Abraham is 140 years old at the beginning of chapter 24.

  • Abraham is 100 years old when Isaac is born. Genesis 21:5

  • Isaac was 40 years old when Rebekah became his wife. Genesis 25:20

2. The blessings of Abraham are listed in Genesis 24:35

·        Flocks, herds, silver, gold, male servants, female servants, camels, and donkeys.

3. “God is more ready to hear our prayers than we are ready to pray.” Dr. Terry J. Betts

“Before they call I will answer;
    while they are yet speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24 ESV

4. “The person who truly trusts God to answer prayer is eager to see how God will do so.” Dr. Terry J Betts

5. God hears the prayer of those who seek Him!

6. Abraham’s servant was looking for someone who would leave her family to be the wife of someone she never met. (Similar to God calling Abraham to leave his family to go to a land God would show him.)

8. Application:

  • Seek God’s direction in all areas of life.

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:5-6

  • When God has provided for a need in your life, it’s time to praise God.

  • Are you willing to meet the need of someone when you have the resources to meet that need?
